Competitive analysis

Definition: Competitive analysis is the study of competing products and alternatives to understand where your product is stronger, weaker or different, and to inform strategy.

It covers features, pricing, positioning, target customers and the strengths and weaknesses of each alternative, including doing nothing or using a spreadsheet.

Done once, it goes stale. The most useful competitive analysis is light, regular and tied to specific decisions, such as whether to build a requested feature.
