User story

Definition: A user story is a short description of a need from the user's point of view, usually written as 'As a [type of user], I want [goal] so that [benefit]'.

User stories keep the focus on who the work is for and why it matters, rather than on the implementation. They are typically small enough to complete in a sprint and come with acceptance criteria that define done.

Larger pieces of work are captured as epics and broken down into several user stories.
