Prioritization framework

Also known as: Prioritization framework

Definition: A prioritization (or prioritization) framework is a repeatable method for deciding which work to do first, by scoring or ranking options against agreed criteria.

Common frameworks include RICE, MoSCoW, the Kano model, value versus effort, and weighted scoring. Each makes trade-offs explicit, so decisions can be explained and challenged.

No framework replaces judgment. Their real value is consistency: everyone scores against the same criteria, and the reasoning behind a priority is visible.
