Model Context Protocol (MCP)
Definition: The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI assistants such as Claude or Cursor connect to other software to read data and take actions.
An MCP server exposes tools, such as 'create a feature request' or 'query the roadmap'. Any MCP-capable assistant can then use those tools in conversation, without custom integration work for each assistant.
For product teams, MCP means raising, updating and querying product data from the AI tools they already use.
